migrate or move data, users, user passwords, local groups, account rights, files, folders and shares on NTFS partitions from
server
to server while keeping security and end-user access intact.
Local
User and Local Group Migration
ServerMigrator will migrate local
users, passwords, user properties, terminal server properties and local groups while copying files and their
permissions. If
a local group or user has permissions on a file on the source server,
ServerMigrator
will create the local group and user on the destination server and modify the permissions list
on the destination file or folder to reflect the newly created local
groups and users.
Local User and Groups
Conversion
ServerMigrator can convert local users and local groups to Domain
user and Domain Local Groups If
the data migration involves domain controllers,
ServerMigrator
can convert the local accounts to Active
Directory domains and modify the permissions list
on the source files, folders and shares to reflect the newly created
domain local
groups or users before the data migration.
Optionally, Domain Local Groups can be converted to Server Local Groups or
Server user accounts and local groups can be converted to domain
accounts while maintaining resource access intact.
Local
User and
Passwords
ServerMigrator will migrate local
user passwords and account properties to the destination server for all
accounts that are migrated. Once the new accounts are created,
ServerMigrator
automatically associates security permissions between the source and the
newly created accounts to maintain NTFS file, folder and share security.
As an option,
ServerMigrator can granularly copy or re-sync passwords for common
accounts that exist on both the source and target servers.
Account Rights
ServerMigrator will migrate local
account rights to the destination server for local users and local groups.
If an account has assigned or inherited rights on the source server, the
newly created or associated account will be assigned the same rights on
the target server.
NTFS and Share Permissions
ServerMigrator intelligently analyzes the
server migration variables involved,
makes the necessary Access Control List (ACL) adjustments, user and group remappings, and processes
folders and shares to ensure security integrity during the
transfer from the source server to the target server.
